Music Monday 06

It is with deep, deep sadness that I must let all of you know that tomorrow is my last day at the office. This means that today is my last Music Monday. Depressing, I know.

But nonetheless, the music must go on! And so we have compiled a wonderful list of songs for you to say goodbye to July and welcome the lovely month of August with. Listen to them, sing them, enjoy them. It’s a pretty sweet playlist.

Kate’s Pick: I Wanna Be The One by Fun

My choice this week is ‘I Wanna Be the One’ by Fun. Mostly because I like the band name…just kidding. Not really. Seriously, though. This song is precious. That’s all.

Michelle’s Pick: Heaven’s on Fire by The Radio Department

“So I heard Ad playing this song in the Hub (thanks Ad) and I immediately fell in love with it. It’s a feel good song and it sums up the summer pretty well. Not so much the lyrics, just how fun the song is. Anyway, it’s a good one to leave off with. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!”

Caitlin’s Pick: Help, I’m Alive by Metric

Sometimes it feels like life is going at ‘the pace (of) a runaway train.’ At these moments, it helps to be asked “if my life is mine what shouldn’t I do?” If there is one thing I have learned here over my internship it is that you make your own reality no matter what is going on around you. Thanks Falling Whistles :).

Teddy’s Pick: Teardrop by Massive Attack

This is a beautiful and soothing song. It has the uncommon capability to mesmerize. The thought of a teardrop hitting a fire is reminiscent of a whistle being blown in the middle of a war.

Whitney’s Pick: The Heart of Life by John Mayer

“It took me a while to decide on this one. But I think this was a good decision. Honestly, I picked it because it summarizes how I feel about one of our absolutely incredible interns, Mazzi, leaving. Mazzi, you rocked my world (and will continue to do so all the way ovurrr in Florida).”

Tori’s Pick: Belly of the Lion by John Mark McMillan

This song talks about getting stuck in the routine of work and reminds me that whatever you do for a living, you have to do it for something greater if you want it to actually mean anything. It is easy to fall into doing tasks without purpose but dreams are only accomplished when there is Belief and intentionality in every aspect of work and life. Time can only be spent, so every second is valuable! Live it up.”

And that’s it!

It has been a pleasure providing you lovely followers a mix every week. Hope it brought a smile to your face, a tap to your toe, and sweet, sweet sounds to your ears.

Who knows, maybe I’ll stop back in and post a surprise playlist… You’ll just have to check back and see :)

So much love and then some,

Michelle and the FWinterns

(Kind of sounds like a band name, huh?)
