Spotlight SThursday!

Hey y’all!*

Today is Sthursday. You may have noticed that you didn’t get to learn about an intern Sunday, but HAVE NO FEAR! Today, you do. Meet Arianna.

Arianna is the BOMB.COM. And Disclaimer: these answers could be a few days outdated. Don’t judge.

How many years do you have?

I have 19 years and 7 months.

Where are you from?

I’m from Brookline, Massachusetts. (Boston)

Which department do you intern for and what do you do?

I’m part of the Hub and I cook food and I do miscellaneous things.

[JB: What she means to say is that she cooks lunch for about 20 people DAILY. Some people in this office could eat for a giant. Or two. She does work. She also finds office things like filing cabinets. On Craigslist. For $5. WINNER.]

What’d you eat last night?

I ate at Subway last night because it was the only thing open at 11pm when I got home from the National concert.

[JB: Yes, this is outdated. Sorry bout it. Last night she ate a bacon cheeseburger from our FAVORITE CAFE.]

What’s your favorite LA spot?

My favorite LA spot is the top seat on the Sea Dragon carnival ride on the Santa Monica Pier.

What are you famous for?

I’m famous for making food. [JB: And cake.]

What’s the best thing you have ever done that you should not have done?

Jumping in the Charles River on the Fourth of July.

Why did you decide to devote this semester to work toward peace in Congo?

I decided to take a year off from school and work at Falling Whistles because I wanted to get more experience working in a business. While Falling Whistles is a non-profit, I really like the business savvy approach. This model, unique to non-profits, is what sets FW apart.

Is there a moment in your life when you knew beyond a doubt that you wanted to do work like this? If so, describe it.

Nope, I really only thought about joining FW after I saw Sean and Yves speak at my school. I’m not quite sure I know beyond a doubt that I want to do work like this forever, or even what I want to devote my life to (besides traveling the world and eating awesome food), but I can say that this experience interning at Falling Whistles has certainly opened my eyes to new possibilities.

So there you go. Arianna. She’s SO WONDERFUL and her food is tastalicious.

Hope you’re all having a fantastic week!

*I just had a “public speaking lesson” and was told to not use y’all. I’m going to continue to use it.
