Congolese News

(From left to right, Tshisekedi, Kengo, Kabila, Kamerhe & Bemba)
Hey Guys,
Once again I am back for more Congolese News. I encourage everyone for questions and discussions. This time around all presidential candidates are known. Unlike 2006 where Congo had 33 presidential candidates, only 12 individuals will be running for the presidency this time around. The incumbent President Kabila is officially seeking reelection for November. The two opposition groups submitted several candidates. The faction led by Tshisekedi known as Fatima has one candidate which is Tshisekedi himself. The Sultani group mainly composed of Kamerhe, Kengo, Bemba (currently held in the ICC) and other parties, saw Kengo and Kamerhe separately announce their candidacy for the presidency. It should be noted that both candidates expressed the urgency for more talks in the hopes of finding one single candidate to oppose Jospeh Kabila. The son of Mobutu, Nzanga Mobutu is also running for the presidency once again.
Also in the News,
An unknown sickness has caused the death of several people in the Kasai-Oriental region. In the space of 10 days, 10-20 people mostly children have lost their lives. The provincial government has so far sent a delegation to acquire further information in the East Kalonda zone. The symptoms have so far shown high fevers and diarrhea. The provincial minister arrived on the ground with antibiotics, serums, and water purification tablets donated by the Family Health Association “L’Association santé familiale”. According to Radio Okapi, several samples have been collected to be sent to the national biology research institute (INRB) in Kinshasa.
If you guys have any questions or suggestions feel free to pass it on!
Peace for all,
Leny
