Spotlight Sunday, y’all!
Hellooooo Tumblr!
It’s time for my first real installment of Spotlight Sunday, and I’m going to test it out on myself. No one else wanted to be my guinea pig for my first round of questions. FINE, TEAM. Actually, I wanted to make sure y’all were okay with my question choices before interviewing others.
So. Without further ado…

That’s me. Julia Bates. At the beach. Near home. You’re welcome, world.
QUESTION TIME:
How many years do you have?
I have 22 of them.
Where are you from?
Quincy, FL. Find it on a map.
Which department at FW claimed you and what do you do for them?
The best department claimed me. I’m in the Hub and am the administrative assistant. Basically, I schedule people’s lives (kind of) and help people do things. It’s really fantastic and I LOVE THE HUB. A LOT.
What’d you eat last night?
Last night I ate a sub from Quiznos. It was lovely. Later I had some granola. It was also lovely.
What’s your favorite LA spot so far?
SO FAR it’s Novel, my favorite cafe. I also really like the LA County Museum of Art though. It’s WAY COOL.
What are you famous for?
Well. I’m famous for graduating from the University of the South: Sewanee, being obsessed with summer camp, and this. There’s a part two. Again, you’re welcome.
And as a rollover from this summer’s FWintern class: What’s the best thing you’ve ever done that you shouldn’t have done?
Last year in Cape Town we were trying to hike up to Devil’s Peak, but our cab driver just kind of dropped us off at the side of a mountain. Being dumb Americans, we assumed we were to just start going up, and we kind of saw a path, so that’s what we did. After a while we realized we were not, in fact, on the Devil’s Peak trail, but we kept going anyway. Point of the story is, I’m 99% sure we broke some laws or trespassed on someone’s land or something, but we got an awesome view. It was rad (still working on my Cali lingo).
Anywho, please let me know if you want to see different questions for the other interns! I’m not married to the idea of any of these questions, and y’all probably have some pretty good ideas about how to get to know us better!
Till next Sunday,
Julia
